Apple Scotch

45 ml scotch

45 ml apple juice

Sugar and lemon

Maraschino syrup

Slice of apple

Shake it up over ice and serve in a highball over ice

 

Jack’s Apple

60 ml applejack’s cider

120ml apple cider

Slice of baked apple

Pinch cinnamon

Pinch nutmeg

Tsp honey

Heat it up and serve in a mug.

 

Orchard Punch

Apple jack brandy

Orange juice

Grapefruit juice

Grenadine

Orange bitters

Lemon lime soda

Ginger ale

Slices of orange and apple.

 

Granny;s Martini

120 ml vodka

120 ml sour apple schnapps

Slices of granny smith apple

Shake up and serve chilled in a cocktail glass.

Cranberry Collins

45ml cranberry juice

30 ml gin

Juice of small lime

Slice of lime

Serve in a highball with ice and top with soda.

Cranberry Caipirinha

60ml aquavit

Tbsp sugar

2 lime wedges

10 fresh cranberry

Tbsp water

Muddle sugar and fruit, add ice to lowball and top with aquavit.

Cranberry Sparkler

60 ml Sparkling cider

45 ml Cranberry juice

30 ml Sparkling water

Fresh cranberries

Lemons- sliced

This makes a great non-alcoholic punch. Or add vodka – zubrowski is best! Serve in punch cups- chilled!

Crantini

45 ml vodka

15 ml triple sec

15 ml vermouth

120 ml cranberry juice

Ice

Shake it up over ice and serve in a cocktail glass with a cranberry.

Apple Manhattan

60 ml bourbon

30 ml apple liqueur

Shake over ice and serve in a cocktail glass with sliced apple for garnish.

 

Haymaker

20ml bourbon

20 ml triple sec

20 ml dry vermouth

20 ml lime juice

Shake and strain into a lowball with ice.

 

Cattail

60 ml bourbon

60 ml hazelnut bliss

30 ml ginger ale

Shake it up and serve in a cocktail glass.

Southern Belle

45 ml bourbon

240 ml pineapple juice

10 ml triple sec

60 ml orange juice

Dash grenadine

Serve over ice in a highball

 

Southern Lady

60 ml bourbon

30 ml southern comfort

30 ml crème de noyaux

90 ml pineapple juice

30 ml lime juice

60 ml lemon soda

Shake it up apart from the soda and serve over ice in a highball or hurricane to top with soda and garnish with a pineapple and cherry.

 

Southern Peach

45 ml bourbon

10 ml grenadine

60 ml orange juice

60 ml sour mix

30 ml peach schnapps

Pour the grenadine in a hurricane with ice and add bourbon. Shake other ingredients over ice and top into the hurricane, garnishing with a cherry or a peach slice.

Millionaire Cocktail

90 ml bourbon

30 ml pernod

Few dashes curacao

Few dashes grenadine

Egg white

Shake it up over ice and strain into a cocktail glass.

 

Presbyterian

80 ml bourbon

Topped with soda and ginger ale

Over ice in a highball glass.

Ward Eight

60 ml bourbon

30 ml lemon juice

30 ml orange juice

Sugar syrup

Dash grenadine

Shake it up over ice and strain into a cocktail glass.

The Julep

You think of Kentucky and soon the Mint Julep is conjured, right? Well here are the varieties… remember to serve them cold (it gets hot in Kentucky)

 

Mint Julep

½ tsp fine sugar

75 ml bourbon

Splash soda

Mint sprig

Serve in a lowball over ice

 

Mint Julep 2

15 ml sugar syrup

75 ml bourbon

6 Mint leaves

Muddle mint into sugar syrup. Stir with ice and add the rest, stirring again with the ice. Serve in a lowball over ice

Frozen Julep

15 ml sugar syrup

75 ml bourbon

30 ml lemon juice

6 Mint leaves

Muddle mint into sugar syrup. Stir with ice and add the rest, stirring again with the ice. Blend and serve in a lowball garnishing with a mint sprig.

Bluegrass

45 ml bourbon

30 ml lemon juice

30 ml pineapple juice

tsp maraschino liqueur

Shake it all up over ice and serve in a cocktail glass. Serve with a cherry.

 

Bourbon Cobbler

45 ml bourbon

30 ml southern comfort

Tsp peach brandy

60 ml lemon juice

30 ml sugar syrup

Top with soda and garnish with a peach slice

Shake it up (less the soda) over ice and then pour into a highball with ice and top with soda.

Strong Choices

Some people have all-time popular favourites that are not Martinis or Manhattans. Here they are:

 

Gimlet

45 ml gin or vodka (I prefer vodka)

15 ml roses lime

Squeeze of lime

Serve over ice in a lowball, although this can also be served in a chilled cocktail glass.

 

Negroni

30 ml gin

30 ml campari

30 ml sweet vermouth

Garnish with a lemon twist and serve over ice in a highball.

 

Gibson

75 ml gin

15 ml dry vermouth

Pearl onions

Serve over ice in a lowball, although this can also be served in a chilled cocktail glass.

 

Dark Eyes or Ochi Chernya

60 ml vodka

10 ml dry vermouth

10 ml sweet vermouth

Shake it up over ice and serve in a chilled cocktail glass with a black olive.

50 ml whiskey (I prefer bourbon)

10ml sweet vermouth

50 ml Irish whiskey

10ml sweet vermouth

You can serve this over ice in a lowball or chilled in a cocktail glass.
